About Us

Eilean Dubh Home Care is a locally based and locally run care at home service providing care to Black Isle residents on a short term or ongoing basis depending on your needs. We provide care to adults of any age with health and social needs in their own homes and accessing the community. Residential care may be the best option on occasions however our priority is to enable people to live in their own homes rather than moving to a care home.

It is essential that people are able to stay in their homes or communities for as long as possible, if that is their preference, indeed most older people do want to stay in their homes as they age.

Moving comes with both physical and emotional stress, and many seniors are afraid of leaving behind beloved neighbours and a family home full of memories.

Add the fear of the unknown to those concerns and a move to institutions such as hospital or a care/nursing home can be overwhelming.

For many seniors, moving out of a family home means sorting through decades of keepsakes and possessions. A move away from home may mean changing decades-old routines, and some older people may worry that a move will further isolate them from friendships that have lasted their entire life.

A house is just a house, but a home is something to be cherished. Leaving a physical structure that has encapsulated decades worth of memories and is the backdrop to family holidays and reunions can be emotional.

More than anything else is the fear of the unknown and possible institutionalisation, many worry that the move will not be worth the physical and emotional stress of it all, concerned about losing valuable relationships and feeling left out of future family functions and friendly gatherings.

Prioritised help to keep people in their own homes as they grow older is a priority for adult social care, giving older people their independence for longer; as people are living longer, the demographic has changed and more elderly people need care.

Many share the often-heard wish, “I want to stay in my own home!”. With the right help this is possible. Staying in your own home as you get older, sometimes called “aging in place”, with assistance from home care providers such as Eilean Dubh Home Care is very possible.
